Terms of Service

The Group Chat is a service that takes a single input from you and returns five AI-generated verdicts plus a shareable card. The verdicts are written in fictional voices for editorial and entertainment value. They are commentary, not advice.

You must be 18 or older to use The Group Chat. By using the service, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

The verdicts The Group Chat produces are creative output generated by an AI model. They are not legal, medical, psychological, financial, relationship, or any other kind of professional advice. They are written to be sharp, opinionated, and sometimes wrong on purpose. Do not make consequential life decisions based solely on what The Group Chat tells you. Use it the way you’d use a friend’s hot take — directional, occasionally useful, and to be weighed against your own judgment and, where appropriate, a real professional.

The Group Chat screens inputs for indicators of crisis, self-harm, threats of violence, and content involving minors. When such content is detected, we may decline to generate verdicts and instead display crisis resources or a refusal message. These mechanisms are best-effort and may not catch every case — they are not a substitute for emergency services or professional help.

If you are in crisis or considering self-harm, please contact 988 (U.S. Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or your local emergency number. The Group Chat is not a crisis resource, mental-health service, or professional support service.

When you use The Group Chat, you agree not to:

• Submit content that is illegal, that harasses or threatens a specific identifiable person, or that you do not have the right to submit
• Submit content depicting or relating to minors in any sexual, exploitative, or inappropriate context
• Use the service to harass, defame, dox, or stalk another person
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to circumvent the service’s quota system or paywall
• Resell, redistribute, or repackage The Group Chat’s output as your own product or service
• Submit content with the goal of training a competing AI model on our outputs

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violations, with or without notice depending on severity.

If you upgrade to a paid plan, we authenticate you using a magic-link system: when you log in, we email you a short-lived link instead of asking for a password. The link is a credential. Do not share it. We are not responsible for unauthorized access caused by you sharing the link with someone else.

If you purchase a paid plan, you authorize The Group Chat (via our payment processor) to charge your selected payment method on the cadence you chose (monthly or annually). Subscriptions auto-renew until canceled.

You can cancel anytime. Cancellation stops future charges but does not refund the current period. We do not provide pro-rated refunds for partial periods.

If you believe you were charged in error, email hello@thegroupchat.app within 30 days of the charge and we’ll review it.

The Group Chat’s name, logo, brand voice, persona definitions, and underlying mechanic are the property of The Group Chat LLC.

The verdicts The Group Chat generates from your input are yours to share, screenshot, repost, and otherwise use. That’s the entire point of the verdict card. The brand identity itself, however, is not — please don’t represent yourself as The Group Chat or use our marks for your own products.

The Group Chat is provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis. We make no warranty, express or implied, that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or fit for any particular purpose. Use at your own risk.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Group Chat LLC, its members, employees, contractors, and service providers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of The Group Chat, including but not limited to lost profits, lost data, or emotional distress, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

In any event, our total cumulative liability to you for any claim arising from your use of The Group Chat shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Group Chat LLC from any claim, damage, liability, or expense arising from your misuse of the service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

You can stop using The Group Chat at any time. We can terminate or suspend your access at any time, with or without notice, for violation of these terms or for any reason at our discretion.

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version always lives at thegroupchat.app/terms with the “Last updated” date at the top. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. For substantive changes affecting paid users, we’ll also notify you via email.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising under these terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
